Dorothy JaunceyEmail: Dorothy.Jauncey@anu.edu.au Dorothy Jauncey has a BA (First Class Honours) and a PhD in Linguistics from the Australian National University. Her doctoral dissertation is called A Grammar of Tamambo, the language of western Malo, Vanuatu; the data for her study and documentation of this language were recorded on fieldwork in the Avunatari area of Malo island, in northern Vanuatu. Additionally, Dorothy holds primary school teaching qualifications and is an accredited teacher of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) for adults. She has taught in NSW, the UK and USA in pre-schools and primary schools and has been a Master Teacher and Principal in the ACT School System. Since May 1998, she has worked as a researcher and editor at the Australian National Dictionary Centre. She is responsible for reassessing the etymology of the entries in The Australian National Dicionary for the next edition, and has contributed towards the centre's book Voices of Queensland: Words from the Sunshine State (2001) and the Australian English section at the National Museum of Australia. Dorothy is also the author of Bardi Grubs and Frog Cakes: South Australian Words (2004).
