The Vocal Studies Area at
the School of Music, Faculty of Arts is recognised at a national
and international level for the outstanding qualities of its graduates.
It has established a reputation for producing fine singers who are
readily accepted into the profession as soloists or chorus and are
in demand throughout Australia and overseas. Its talented and inspiring
teachers have produced an enviable record of prizewinners of major
competitions both in Australia and internationally.
Voice students enjoy all the advantages of a university that
offers European languages and performance studies, as well as
highly specialised vocal tuition. In addition to a weekly one-hour
voice lesson and a coaching session, students are required to
participate in vocal ensemble, recitals, and public concerts.
A major operatic production is presented each year by ANU's George
Limb Opera Company, in which all singers are involved in some
capacity. Allowance is made within the course for those students
who do not have an extensive musical background, and who require
time to develop their music literacy and aural skills. |
